Kari (formerly Kismet)

Dear Oasis,

Meow! Hello!

I just wanted to tell you that I will never forget the day that I met my new mommy and daddy. I was at the Woodinville PetSmart with the volunteers from Oasis for Animals. I saw so many nice people that day, but they just didn't seem like the right fit for me. Then I saw them... the perfect parents! They had only stopped by the store to pick up a few supplies for their other kitty, but decided to take a moment to admire me. I knew I had to put on a show for them. They weren't sure if it was the right time to adopt another kitty since one of their beloved elderly cats had passed away only a few months earlier. That didn't discourage me because I was determined that I was going home with them! When they reluctantly started to walk away, I turned up the charm. That did it! The mommy soon had tears in her eyes and rushed back to see me! I knew I could do it!

They brought me home to see my new kitty-sister, Ferus. Let's just say that she wasn't exactly thrilled to meet me (we're over that now). It wasn't too much of a problem for me because I was too busy exploring my new home. It was so exciting! I did have a little problem understanding the concept of stairs--upstairs and downstairs. Down was easy, but up was hard. I understand it now.

Soon after, my mommy, daddy, and kitty-sister began taking me in their RV on travel adventures. I love watching the campfire, but my favorite part is looking out the windows at all the birds! Seagulls scare me a bit though since they are so big! I get so sad when the trips are over, but we always go again and again.

It's been so much fun training my parents. I make them pick me up and carry me around the house all the time. I try to keep petting time to a maximum. It's also very easy to get them to bring out my favorite toys. I love playing with the laser-pointer most of all, but I get so confused when the little red dot disappears! I know I'll catch it someday!

Recently I went to visit Jean at Oasis. I just wanted to say hello and tell her how happy I am that she made it possible for me to find my mommy and daddy. Thank you so much for bringing us together. I'm such a lucky kitty... and my parents are so lucky too!

I need to take a nap now but I wanted to tell you one more thing. Remember when I told you about how I met my new parents? They only came to the store for supplies and ended up taking me home instead. Well, it must have been FATE... so that is why I am now called KISMET.

Thank you Oasis!

Kari
